LOVE and My Other Highest Values – My Thoughts on the Good Life
Hello, and welcome to this week’s Thoughts on the Good Life. I hope you are having a beautiful day!

Your Highest Values

This week I invite you to consider your highest values in life: your reasons for living. There’s no right or wrong answers here. Your highest values are totally unique to you, and they are perfect for you. Identifying your highest values can help you clarify your vision for what you want in life. Doing so can also help you effectively live out your dreams.

My Highest Values

In this article, I’ll share my 7 highest values in life. I could easily name 100 values that are important to me, but today I want to cut through all the fuzz and focus on the few things that make me happier than anything else.

#1: LOVE

Love has always been #1 to me: Love of life, romance, family, friends, nature, all people, all things, goodness, the Creator, the universe, love of all things. Love is strong and powerful, and it’s also soft and kind at the same time. Love transcends all things including time. I want our toddler son to know how important love is, and I trust he already does, because he’s surrounded by love. Love is the one thing that gives me confidence that life is beautiful, despite any evidence to the contrary.

#2: Personal Development

Personal development is extremely important to me. Life is a gigantic gift. I want to make the most of this fabulous opportunity to live a good life. It’s important to me to fine-tune my skills, sculpt my character, and fully use the talents I’ve been blessed with to benefit others, the world, and myself.

#3: Connection

I live to connect. I love people, the universe, and everything in it. I crave and am energized by connecting with others. I want to impact others in a positive way, and have others positively impact me.

#4: Magic

I love to look at reality as if it’s a little bit magical. Of course there are natural laws that govern the universe, but from where I’m standing, it seems serendipity, lucky coincidences, and benevolent mysteries are commonplace. I see magic and potential for magic everywhere. I thinks it’s possible for the world to become a much more loving and delightful place. I think big. I believe peace, love, happiness, and miracles are possible on a wide scale. Reality is more beautiful and abundant than any of us realize.

#5: Trust

I trust that the universe is friendly. I think it’s best to assume good intent in most cases. Yes, we live in a world of paradox. But despite it all, I find it comforting to trust that everything is infused with love, meaning, timelessness, and potential for improvement. Of course it’s necessary to exercise good judgement in life. But I find that in general, it’s important to “trust and love” myself, other people, life as it unfolds, and the universe. It helps me relax and live.

#6: Satisfaction

Satisfaction is that sunshine-drenched feeling that life is exactly as it should be. Accomplishment. Abundance. I want satisfaction, happiness, and completeness in the present moment for myself and for everyone. The type of satisfaction I value most is the type that can co-exist with motivation.

#7: Success

I want to continue to be successful in making my gorgeous goals become reality: personal and professional. I feel called to systemize and simplify success. I want to help others do the same. Life is so complicated. But sometimes things are more straightforward than they seem. I’m willing to be disciplined, work hard, work smart, or barely work at all. Any which way, I want to be effective at making the magic happen. I find it helpful to systemize the way I do things. It makes me feel more secure, and I get better results.

A Powerful Exercise

I encourage you to list your own highest values. It’s a surprisingly powerful exercise that can help you get aligned with what’s truly important to you. Have a happy week!
