Cheer for the Success of Other People
Make the World a Brighter Place
One of the best ways to make the world a brighter place is to cheer for the success of other people. Your encouragement means a lot to other people. It’s a custom-tailored gift you can give them. It strengthens relationships and builds trust. Plus, it seems the more you cheer on others’ success, the more success you enjoy yourself. It’s a beautiful reciprocal thing.
I’ve been thinking about this subject a lot. I think most people would agree that it’s a good idea to cheer for the success of other well-meaning people. Thank goodness. But I’m compelled to write an entire blog article about the subject, because I want to dive deeply into why it’s a good idea to cheer on others’ success, in order to satisfy my curiosity and encourage my own good behavior. I also want to express my opinions and spread some sunshine.
Here are several of the most compelling reasons I can think of to support, celebrate, and cheer on the success of other people:
It Gets You into a Positive Frame of Mind: It feels great to genuinely want good things for other people.
A Rising Tide Raises All Ships: When someone has a big win, it has a tendency to benefit everyone around them.
Cooperation is More Productive than Competition: Win-win-win scenarios are possible and often pave the way for future wins. Plus, it seems people usually succeed in groups, or at least in cooperation with others.
It Feels Good: There’s something intrinsically pleasant about recognizing and complimenting someone else’s unique gifts. It can also be a lot of fun to give and receive compliments.
Another Person’s Success Doesn’t Diminish Your Own: It’s possible for every person to be successful in their own unique way. But if jealousy persists, cheer on their success anyway. Be grateful to the jealousy for pointing you in the direction of your true desires.
Make Friends and Strengthen Relationships: It’s the best thing in the world to have friends, family, and colleagues who truly want the best for you. And when you cheer on their success, it certainly means a lot to them too. Mutual support is the stuff of good long-term relationships.
Even Small Things Go a Long Way: Just the act of friendship. A lively conversation. Intently listening. A smile. Little kindnesses. Or a silent wish for good things for another person. All those are all valuable ways to cheer on success.
All the Best to You
Hopefully, you enjoyed this article. I hope it made you happy, hopeful, and inspired to cheer on others’ success. It was reaffirming for me personally to think that all through. And of course, these are just my opinions, and I respect that you are always entitled to your own. That being said, I think cheering on other people is one of the best things we can do in this life. And with that in mind, I wish you all the best! Have a beautiful week.
