Persistence. And My Bucket List.

Persistence. And My Bucket List.

Persistence seems to be key to achieving any worthwhile long-term goal. That’s why I’m doing a combo blog article on persistence and my bucket list. I’m sharing this with you, because I want to express myself, and I’d like to inspire you in some way, and also I believe my goals are more likely to come true if I share them with you.

In my experience, identifying, writing down, and discussing my biggest goals has been required to make them reality.

Once the worthy goals have identified, it seems persistence takes over as the #1 ingredient required to realize goals. I see persistence as a mix of self-discipline, resilience, self-restraint, focus, courage, and tenacity. It’s all about seeing an ideal future, and putting in work toward that vision every day.

I’ve never written a bucket list before. The thought of it kind of scares me but also energizes and fires me up.

Here goes:

  • Live a good life.
  • Help my son live a good life.
  • Help my husband live a good life.
  • Help my parents live good lives.
  • Help my extended family live good lives.
  • Help my friends live good lives.
  • Help my colleagues, clients, and customers live good lives.
  • Help the company I work for succeed.
  • Have a positive impact on my community.
  • Reduce suffering in the world tangibly.
  • Make the world a brighter place.
  • Leave a positive legacy that inspires.
  • Become completely debt free.
  • Become wealthy.
  • Leave an inheritance to our son.
  • Travel to a few more places internationally.
  • Create some beautiful artwork.
  • Become more organized with physical things.
  • Archive some of my best memories.
  • Make our house really feel like home.
  • Have homes in the city and country.
  • Have good times with friends.
  • Have good times with family.
  • Finish creating at least one book.
  • See our son graduate from college.
  • Fully appreciate nature.
  • Show gratitude to whoever created me.
  • Cultivate healthiness.
  • Stay happy.
  • Continue to see the good in life, people, and myself and see the humor in situations.
  • Stay soft. Except when I need to be tough.
  • Relax.
  • Be kind.
  • Protect myself and others.
  • Forgive easily.
  • Express myself.
  • Have fun and enjoy myself.
  • Remember that love is #1.
  • Nurture infinite love that goes beyond our finite lifetimes.

Nice. That pretty much covers it. It’s motivating to have a list.

Most the above items on my bucket list I’ll never be able to check off the list. They’ll be “action items” that’ll go on for my entire lifetime, and maybe beyond. I’m okay with that.

Maybe I’ll live to 109 with a healthy mind and body. Then I’ll be able to develop these bucket list goals for decades and decades. I certainly will try to live a long life of wellness. But nothing is guaranteed. Maybe my life will end tomorrow. Or most likely, something in between. Any which way, I’m happy with how my life has gone so far, and I’m grateful and satisfied. And the future is most likely filled with beautiful possibility.

I’ll be persistent in the days, months, years, and decades to come. I’ll be giving a consistent “20 mile march” almost every day toward my goals. I’ll be following my good habits and fine-tuning them, so they’re increasingly effective.

I’m curious if you have a bucket list of your own. I’d also like to know your thoughts on the concept of persistence. If you want, feel free to share your ideas with me. I wish you a really good life: today, tomorrow, and forever.
