“Inbox Zero” Across the Board – 30-Day Personal Challenge Wrap-Up
My main personal email account is now at “inbox zero”. I archived and deleted more than 20,000 emails, mostly in big two hour purge, and now there’s nothing left except beautiful nothingness. But everything even vaguely important is safely archived. That’s exactly how I like it.
Now the daily challenge is to maintain “inbox zero”. It should be fairly simple, since I already check my personal email almost every day. I’ll just need to promptly make decisions about how to handle each email: archive, unsubscribe, respond immediately, or put it on my calendar to respond later. It’s really as simple as that.
I have to admit this personal challenge wasn’t a total success however. I still have another 5 or so email accounts that I rarely use and would like to close down or manage better. But I didn’t have time to tackle them this month. There are photos and important info I don’t want to lose, so it’ll take more time and thought than I currently have. It’s been an extra busy month, with lots of holiday excitement, and the conclusion of my 365-day blogging challenge, on top of my usual work and family life. So for now, my rarely used email accounts will remain my cluttered closets that I compartmentalize and ignore. I’m okay with that. I’ll reopen those cans of worms at another time.
What’s most important to me is that my main personal email is at “inbox zero”. I love it. I’ll just focus on the improved functional order resulting from that success.
Today I’ve published two blog articles. The other one is “Blog Every Week – 365-Day Challenge Wrap-Up“, and I encourage you to take a look. I’ve been blogging for a year now. It’s been an incredibly positive experience. I’ll show you my analytics, share my reflections, and tell you what’s next. 🙂
