Finishing Goals
Hope you are having an absolutely beautiful summer! In the middle of the July heat, I’m reflecting on New Year’s Resolutions. I chose the 2019 theme word “finisher” when I set two big New Year’s Resolutions that involved finishing challenging projects. Now in July, I’ve finished one project, and I have one more to finish. Here’s a quick update on them both.
Debt Payoff
In May, my husband and I finally paid off all our debt except on the house. It was a massive 10+ year effort, and I’m SO happy we did it. I love the feeling of being more free. It was worth the hard work. We started with a huge amount of student loans, car loans, credit cards, and personal loans. We paid off all the loans using a debt snowball, budgeting, income expansion, and by telling ourselves “no” thousands of times. I plan to write a more detailed blog article on our debt payoff later.
Book Publishing
By October, I want to publish and launch sales of the holiday window painting book I’m creating. I’ve been working on this book for more than a year now. I had 15 friend-and-family editors read the manuscript. I made massive edits. The final manuscript is almost done. Now I’ll complete the last manuscript edits and some final pieces of artwork. Then I’ll hand off the book to a team of talented friends who will design and format the book, including the cover. I plan to self-publish this book, because I want to keep full intellectual property rights. I’ll market it myself. My main goals are to finish, publish, and launch a quality book. This has been an incredibly difficult, complex project. It’s taken me by surprise how tough it’s been. That’s okay. I’m just going to put in time every day, or at least most days, and plow through to the finish line.
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I’d love to hear how yours are going. I hope you are making great progress and enjoying the summer sun along the way!
