All The Best!
I’ve noticed a pleasant pattern that I think is worth noting and sharing with you, because of the positive results. About 6 years ago, I started using the salutation “All the best!” at the end of almost all my emails, on thousands of emails every month, and I love how people frequently respond favorably, often wishing me “all the best” too. It seems there’s a tendency for people to mirror whatever you put out there, back to you.
It kind of reminds me of that saying, “smile, and the whole world smiles back at you.” I’ve witnessed the truth in that concept many times too.
I think that one little phrase at the end of emails – “All the best!” – has had an overall enormous positive impact on my written communications, both at work and personally. It softens every email. It sets the tone to reflect my feelings of positivity, high quality, and appreciation for the person I’m communicating with. I use the salutation with almost every type of email: general communications, good news, bad news, big announcements, serious topics, light topics, and everything else. It works for almost all situations. It’s a nice little catch-all. Plus, the repetition of a positive ideal is kind of soothing.
I also try to begin all my emails on a positive note too, to sandwich my messages within some good vibes. But for email intros, I use a little more creativity in what I say to tailor the message to individuals.
I’m sure there are all kinds of email salutations that could have a positive effect, and “All the best!” is just one of many good possibilities. As with everything, each person has got to find what works well for them. I’m sharing my thoughts about “All the best!” because I like to reflect on the things that are working well in my life, and share my strategies in case they might help you too. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big impact.
